Anh Hoang is the Director of the U.S.-ASEAN Center in Washington, D.C. As the Director of the Center, Anh oversees strategic relationships with ASEAN member country liaisons, the U.S. State Department, NGOs, universities, and industry partners. She leads and implements the Center’s flagship program to bolster U.S.-ASEAN economic, technology and research collaborations.
Prior to joining the U.S.-ASEAN Center, Anh served as the Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy at BowerGroupAsia, where she managed a diverse client portfolio, including Fortune 500 companies in sectors such as consumer goods, education, and defense. Anh advised clients on navigating complex regulatory environments, aligning investment strategies with public policy, and fostering partnerships with local governments to expand business opportunities across the Indo-Pacific region.
Anh’s expertise in international public policy & diplomacy stems from over a decade of working with government stakeholders, NGOs, and private sector leaders in both the United States and globally. Before joining BowerGroupAsia, she was the Program Coordinator at Humentum, managing program implementation, strategic engagement with key stakeholders, and capacity-building initiatives for global NGOs. Prior to that, Anh worked at the Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) in Hanoi, an independent U.S. federal agency dedicated to strengthening U.S.-Vietnam ties through educational exchange programs and capacity-building initiatives. At VEF, she managed federal budgets, coordinated with local vendors, and supported high-level engagements with U.S. and Vietnamese government officials. Earlier in her career, Anh served as an Education Research Officer at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, where she provided strategic advice to strengthen the Australia-Vietnam relationship through academic and vocational training programs. She oversaw the promotion of the Endeavour Scholarship in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia and collaborated with Vietnamese government ministries to advance education reform and capacity-building initiatives.
Anh holds a master’s degree in international public policy from DePaul University in Chicago and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. Fluent in English and Vietnamese and conversational in Mandarin, Anh brings a deep understanding of cultural and political dynamics to her work. She is passionate about fostering international collaboration, driving sustainable development, and advancing U.S.-ASEAN relations through strategic partnerships.
